Roles and
Responsibilities of the Board of Directors Members
The
Board of Directors of the Northeast SPCA are responsible for running the
organization. As a registered charity, the Board Members are also the trustees
of the charity.
In order to manage well, Board Members need:

a
shared vision and agreement about why the organization exists
·
clear
roles and responsibilities
·
clear
short and long term goals
·
an
ability and willingness to plan, work together, and set targets
The work of the Board of Directors will include:
·
meeting
regularly
·
ensuring
members are kept informed
·
managing
the finances
·
agreeing
on a budget and a fundraising strategy
·
making
sure the organization is properly insured
·
making
sure the organization stays within the law
·
developing
policies in areas such as meeting protocol, equal opportunities, health and
safety, and recruitment, induction and supervision of volunteers and employees
and ensuring proper treatment
·
monitoring
and evaluating performance
